MAZDA CX-5 vs. Nissan Rogue

August 21st, 2023 by

If you’re in the market for a sporty compact SUV, you will likely be comparing the Mazda CX-5 vs. Nissan Rogue. New at El Dorado Mazda, the 2024 Mazda CX-5 boasts an impressive combination of value, engine capability, and a sophisticated, sporty cabin, but it’s not the only enticing SUV out there. Here is a comparison between these two vehicles.

Powertrain and Performance

The 2024 Mazda CX-5 comes with two available engines. While the base four-cylinder is efficient and fun to drive, drivers seeking a bit more power can upgrade to the turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which makes 227 horsepower.

Every trim of the 2024 Mazda CX-5 comes standard with i-Activ AWD®, which provides an engaging drive no matter the type of road surface and weather conditions. Plus, the engine is matched to a smooth-shifting six-speed automatic transmission.

Looking at the Nissan Rogue, this SUV only comes with one available engine, which is a 1.5-liter turbocharged I3. It cranks out 201 horsepower, which is less than the turbocharged engine on the Mazda CX-5. While an all-wheel-drive system is available, it is not standard like it is on the Mazda SUV. The continuously variable automatic transmission on the Nissan SUV is regarded by some auto experts to be an inferior option to automatic transmissions.

Premium Interior Design

The 2024 Mazda CX-5 boasts premium interior and exterior design. Choosing the Turbo Signature trim gives you genuine layered wood trim and Caturra Brown Nappa leather-trimmed seats, while the exterior has 19-inch Silver Metallic alloy wheels.

Unfortunately, you won’t find the types of premium cabin finishes on the 2023 Nissan Rogue, and this SUV also features less rear legroom (38.5 inches vs 39.6 on the Mazda CX-5).
