The 2020 Mazda CX-9 has been handsomely updated for the new model year with fresh technology and cabin features. Read more below to learn about the most exciting changes to each trim level of the Mazda CX-9.
The 2020 Mazda CX-9 Sport trim has been upgraded with standard premium features like a lumbar-supporting power driver’s seat, heated front seats and side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic High Beam Control.
Passenger seats are now power adjustable on the 2020 Mazda CX-9 Touring edition, and Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® capabilities are supported. A brand-new 9-inch touch screen is also offered on the Touring, as is Advanced Keyless Entry and Start.
The CX-9 Touring Premium is an available package that upgrades the already-luxurious Touring trim with features like a power moonroof, a Bose® sound system, third-row USB ports, and three months of SiriusXM.
The biggest update to the Grand Touring trim of the CX-9 is the new hands-free rear lift gate, which is perfect for parents who never seem to have enough arms to carry everything. Second-row heated captain’s chairs are also newly available.
On the Signature trim, the aforementioned second-row captain’s chairs are standard and include an upgraded center console. Two leather tones are available, and other premium interior updates give the CX-9 a luxury feel.
Fans of the CX-9 will be pleased to learn that Mazda has also made significant updates to the midsize SUV’s powertrain for the 2020 model year.
All CX-9 models come equipped with a 2.5T SKYACTIV®-G turbocharged engine. For 2020, serious improvements have been made with regard to engine performance. When using 93 octane gas, the 2020 Mazda CX-9 now delivers 10 lb-ft more torque than the previous model’s 310 lb-ft, and reaches up to 250 horsepower.
For 2020, Mazda made its revolutionary i-ACTIV predictive all-wheel drive functionality available on every trim. i-ACTIV AWD® comes standard on the 2020 CX-9’s Signature trim.
Brand new for 2020, the Mazda CX-9 now offers a traction assist feature built to handle off-road driving conditions. This feature is available on CX-9 models with i-ACTIV AWD® and replaces the existing traction control feature on previous editions. With off-road traction assistance, the CX-9 becomes an adventure-ready crossover that continuously monitors wheel traction to increase torque and brake force.
G-Vectoring Control Plus
The 2020 Mazda CX-9 offers G-Vectoring Control Plus steering technology as a standard feature. Drivers and passengers alike will love how smooth the ride is thanks to the upgraded steering responsiveness.
