2020 Mazda Top Safety Pick+ Awards | McKinney, TX
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is a go-to resource for accurate and reliable safety ratings. The agency looks at things like visibility and crash readiness and puts vehicles through various crash tests in order to judge how capable a model is at protecting its passengers. This year, Mazda earned more awards from the IIHS than any other auto brand.
The Winners
Four Mazda models deservingly earned the highest accolade from IIHS, the 2020 Top Safety Pick+ award. The Mazda3 hatchback and sedan, the Mazda6, the CX-3, and the CX-5 were all winners. In order to achieve this, these Mazda vehicles earned good scores in six crash tests. These tests include the driver and passenger side small overlap front, the moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints & seats. The vehicles performed exceptionally with ratings of advanced or superior in both vehicle and pedestrian collisions.
Additionally, these four models all come with headlights rated “acceptable” or “good” for visibility. The Mazda CX-9 meets all of the above standards, although its best headlights are not its standard option, so it earned the second-highest award, Top Safety Pick.
